Motion to Approve Resolution 2026-016 Relating to Mow Less May for Arden
Hills Residents and Businesses
Councilmember Holden stated last year was a significant year as the City received a great deal
of rain. She asked that staff speak to the timeline on when yards should be mowed in Arden Hills.
City Administrator Jagoe explained if there are properties where residents had concerns
regarding the length of the grass, staff should be contacted or residents should visit the City's
website and submit a request tracker. She reported residents would have from June 1 to June 7 to
mow their grass. After this time, properties would be inspected and letters would be sent from the
City.
Councilmember Holden stated for the record properties may not be mowed until June 25 given
the timeline that was required to send letters and proper notice to homeowners.
Councilmember Weber commented he understood this may be a concern for some properties in
the city, but he believed it was important for residents to mow less in May. He then read a
statement in full for the record that spoke to the benefits of Mow Less May, which spoke to the
benefit of protecting native bees and other pollinators in the community.
