.
E. Topography
Generally, the topography of the corridor can be characterized as a shallow
valley with a relatively broad flood plain. The flood plain (elevation 870-880)
with intermittent oxbows is bordered by short embankments (8% - 12%),
gently rolling plateaus (elevation 890) and steep sided (10% - 30%) knolls
(elevation 900) and ridges (elevation 910). Refer to maps on pages VI-26
through VI-28 .
F. Aquaduct - two 60-inch diameter conduits parallel the north side of
County Road I passing along the southern edge of the Shoreview
segment. The St. Paul Water Utility pumps water extracted from the
Mississippi River at Fridley to Charles Lake in North Oaks.
b. Overhead Electric Transmission Line - an overhead electric
transmission line (34.5 KV) passes through the Shoreview segment
following the north-south extended alignment of Schutta Road, then
westward across Rice Creek and along the northern edge of the
Minnesota Highway Department materials storage area. Northern
States Power Company periodically clears the easement of trees
that threaten interference with the power lines. Due to its location,
the transmission line is a moderate visual intrusion.
.
VI-22
----
