<br />H, Public Awareness . <br /> The Ramsey County Parks and Recreation Department currently distributes <br /> written information regarding trail facilities, In addition, some of these <br /> facilities will be listed in Metropolitan Council park and recreation information <br /> brochures, <br /> Ramsey County will continue to provide information and cooperate with the <br /> Metropolitan Council's awareness program. <br />I. Special Needs <br /> In accordance with development policies stated in the Ramsey County <br /> Comprehensive Plan, all facilities will be designed and constructed so that <br /> they accommodate modes of public transportation and are physically <br /> accessible to all segments of the population, including the aged and <br /> physically and mentally disabled, <br />J. Natural Resources Management <br /> The Ramsey County Parks and Recreation Department will develop a <br /> resource management plan that focuses on the protection and improvement <br /> of the health and native diversity of the corridor's natural resources. Such a <br /> plan will 1 ) promote enhancement of the corridor's unique natural resources, <br /> and 2) ensure an attractive and interesting setting for trail related activities~ . <br /> In addition to prioritizing natural resources management objectives based on <br /> the quality and native diversity of habitat areas within the corridor, the <br /> management plan will also address the following broad goals: <br /> 1. Inventory plant and animals present within the corridor. <br /> 2, Control or eliminate exotic species that are damaging the health of <br /> corridor habitats, <br /> 3, Improve habitats for native animal species. <br /> 4, Use vegetative buffers to protect water resources, <br /> 5, Inform park users, surrounding landowners and other interested <br /> organizations about natural resources, and identify mutual benefits <br /> associated with the management of the corridor resources, <br /> 6, Monitor the effects of management activities to provide guidance for <br /> future efforts and initiatives, <br />K. Nature/Historicallnterpretation <br /> As part of its general mission to foster stewardship and an increased <br /> understanding of the natural environment, the Ramsey County Parks and <br /> Recreation Department will work with the Rice Creek Watershed District, <br /> area schools, local historical societies and other interested agencies and <br /> organizations to evaluate and develop opportunities for interpretation of the . <br /> corridor's natural and historical resources, <br /> X-4 <br />
