Metropolitan Transportation Routes <br /> The corridor is readily accessible to Metropolitan Area residents via <br /> Interstate Highway 35-W and U.S. Highway 10. These principal through <br /> arterials, which are adjacent to or within one-half mile of the corridor, are <br /> part of the metropolitan area highway network and provide access to <br /> other arterials, and local collector and distributor streets. <br /> 4. Metropolitan Development Framework Planning Areas <br /> The corridor is located within the "Developing Area", a subdivision of the <br /> Urban Service Area, The unit has a service area which includes <br /> municipalities within the "Fully Developed Area" and "Developing Area" <br /> of the Urban Service Area and the "General Rural Use Area" of the <br /> Rural Service Area. <br /> G. Present Use <br /> Shoreview Segment - all land within the Shoreview segment is zoned Open <br /> Space (OS). To date, all of the land has been acquired for park and <br /> . recreation purposes by Ramsey County. <br /> Arden Hills Segment - the land within the Arden Hills segment is zoned <br /> either Single Family Residential (R-1) or Limited Industrial (1-1). Generally, <br /> the segment is undeveloped and consists primarily of the flood plain and <br /> flood plain embankment of Rice Creek. The northern end of the segment is <br /> owned by the State of Minnesota, and is an unused part of a complex which <br /> includes the State Patrol Training Center Campus, Driver's License Exam <br /> Station and the Surplus Distribution Center. The southern section is part of <br /> the Twin Cities Army Ammunition Plant site and incorporates safety zones <br /> (hazardous fragment distances) for explosive storage magazines operated <br /> by AlIiant Techsystems, a U.S. government munitions contractor. <br /> New Brighton/Mounds View Segment - all land within New Brighton is zoned <br /> Single Family Residential (R-1). All the land within Mounds View is zoned <br /> Conservancy, Recreation and Preservation (CRP). To date, all of the land <br /> has been acquired for park and recreation or county highway purposes and <br /> is in the ownership of Ramsey County. The Rice Creek Watershed District <br /> constructed and maintains a 5-acre desilting pond at the south end of the <br /> segment. <br /> . <br /> II 1-11 <br />
