Reouest for Gamblin~ Permit
The City Council is asked to adopt Resolution #98-26, Approving an Application
to Conduct One-Day Off-Site Gambling for the Circle Pines/Lexington Lions
Club on April 25, 1998 at the Holiday Inn. The event is an annual fund raising
dinner at which Class D Raffle gambling activity is proposed to be conducted.
4. Department Report
The City Council will find the department report enclosed for each of the various City
Departments. Starting this month, the Finance Report from Mr. Post will be incorporated
into the Administration Department. Activities related to the Administration and Finance
Departments include:
a. General Administration
1. New City Hall
During the past month we continued to participate in a variety of meetings
related to the new facility. These included meetings with the architect,
engineer, City staff, City Council, and Army and National Guard officials.
Upon completion of the preliminary site plan, this information was
. provided to the National Guard's attomeys who are working on the lease
document. The plans will soon be ready for a final City Council review
before proceeding to the Planning Commission for discussion.
2. Current City Hall
The roof, which was leaking again this month, has been temporarily
repaired. Hopefully, this will hold until we move out of this facility.
We also installed the new updated computers and associated equipment,
which appear to be working well.
3. Community Representations
I've attended a variety of meetings representing the City this past month.
These include the Joint Mayor's meeting, North Suburban Cable
Commission, I-35W Corridor Coalition, Suburban Chamber of
Commerce, Rotary and others.
4. Tobacco Ordinance
I have prepared a draft ordinance related to tobacco and provided it to City
Attorney Filla for his review and comment. This ordinance is required by
State law and should be available for City Council review in March. I
also met with other municipalities to discuss the compliance checks we
. have begun and other related ordinance activities. Arden Hills had 100
percent compliance during the checks for sales to under-age youth.
