CITY OF ARDEN HILLS
. MEMORANDUM
DATE: April 14, 1998
TO: Mayor and City Council
i
FROM: Cindy S. Walsh, Parks and Recreation Director ~(!J
L. ;:;
SUBJECT: Renaming Lindey's Park to Arden Meaduws
Background
The City Council requested that Lindey's Park be renamed since the name Lindey's was never
officially adopted by the City Council. Possible name choices were solicited from the
neighborhood around the park, the City Newsletter, and the City Recreation Guide.
Name Suggestions for the Park
The following names were submitted to me:
Arden Meadows
Arden Greens
Arden Yard
. Don Stecker Park (Mr. Stecker owned the Wagon Wheel restaurant before Lindey's steakhouse)
Wagon Wheel Park (same reason as above)
Joseph Hackney Park (Mr. Hackney was a former State Senator who once owned the property)
Arden Farms (the area used to be a farm)
Recommendation from the Parks and Recreation Commission
At their March 24, 1998 meeting, the Parks and Recreation Commission discussed the possible
name choices. They decided not to name the park after a person and voted unanimously to name
the park Arden Meadows Park. Staff concurs with this recommendation. If the Council agrees,
staff will inform residents through the newsletter and future park and trail maps.
.
