<br /> . <br /> CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br /> e MEMORANDUM <br /> DATE: April 27, 1998 <br /> TO: M.y" ..d City C,..<l1 k- <br /> FROM: Kevin Ringwald, Community Development Director <br /> SUBJECT: BDC request for illustrative plan - Lexington/Fox Area <br /> Introduction <br /> The Business Development Committee (BDC) requests that the City Council authorize the <br /> expenditure of funds to produce an illustrative plan to assist in the revisiting of the vision for the <br /> Lexington/Fox area (Exhibit A). <br /> Background <br /> The City Council at its Monday, March 10, 1997 regular meeting established the BDC, provided <br /> its mission statement, goals, and appointed its membership. Those are as follows: <br /> l. Mission. To assist with the review of the business needs, target marketing, and <br /> . commercial/residential redevelopment efforts of the community. <br /> 2. Goals. <br /> A. Review the Lexington/Fox Shldy (included in this packet) and determine the types <br /> of businesses desired, and make recommendations to the Planning Commission <br /> and Finance Committee as to how this is accomplished; <br /> B. Review the office component of the Gateway Business District and determine, <br /> through a recommendation to the City Council, who should be target-marketed <br /> and how should this marketing occur; and <br /> C. Review other commercial/residential redevelopment opportunities within the City, <br /> and make recommendations to the City Council as to the findings (i.e., Arden <br /> Plaza, Connelly Street area, Thom Drive area, etc....). <br /> Discussion <br /> The BDC has been revisiting the vision for the Lexington/Fox Area which was originally <br /> produced in June of 1990. The BDC wishes to hire the firm of Sanders, Wacker, and Bergly to <br /> prepare an illustrative plan of their vision to better communicate their ideas to the City Council, <br /> Finance Committee, and Planning Commission. The BDC at its Wednesday, April 15, 1998 <br /> meeting unanimously endorsed this request to the City Council. <br /> e <br />
