CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br /> MEMORANDUM <br /> DATE: April 24, 1998 <br /> TO: M,y" "il Ci<y C""il @ <br /> FROM: Brian Fritsinger, City Administrat r ' <br /> SUBJECT: City Hall Hours of Operation <br /> Request <br /> Staff would request that the City Council once again consider a change in the normal workday <br /> for City Hall during the summer from June I, 1998 through September 4, 1998. This change <br /> would be Monday - Thursday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. <br /> Background <br /> During 1996, the City Council approved a change in work hours from July 2 through September <br /> 2. During 1997, this change was approved from June I, 1997 to September 1, 1997. This <br /> change was an attempt to improve customer service, staff productivity and morale. The primary <br /> . reason for this change, rather than extending hours five days a week, was because of our small <br /> staff and the difficulty in scheduling coverage by each department. <br /> The City has not received any direct negative feedback during the period oftime the hours have <br /> been changed. In fact, most feedback continues to be positive. This change would also be <br /> implemented by the Public Works Department. The hours will be slightly different in that this <br /> department would be working Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Friday <br /> from 7:00 to 11 :00 a.m. <br /> Recommendation <br /> Staff recommends the Council authorize the implementation of a change in the normal workday <br /> for City Hall for the time period of June I through September 4, 1998. <br /> BF IsIs <br /> . <br />
