. CITY OF ARDEN HILLS MEMORANDUM Date: April 22, 1998 To: Brian Fritsinger, City Administrator From: Dwayne Stafford, Public Works Director 1);. Subject: Monthly Department Head Report Puhlic Safety Commission The City of Arden Hills Public Safety Commission held a special meeting on April 16th, 1998 at the Army Reserve Center. This meeting featured three Ramsey County Sheriff Deputies plus the Public Safety Commission Chairmen, John Tholen, who is also a Deputy. The meeting was in response to approximately sixty residents who returned Safety Survey Sheets sent out last year. Those residents had indicated their desire to attend a Commission meeting to discuss traffic problems. Each resident who returned the survey, with traffic concerns, was sent a letter inviting them to attend the meeting, which was also publicized in the Bulletin newspaper. Only four residents, however, attended. . The Sheriff Deputies each spoke on their ideas toward traffic enforcement and discussed some of the problems they encounter along with some ofthe new things they are trying. A discussion followed with all attendees participating. Gateway The Gateway Street Project continues, however, slowly. This project should have been completed by now, with the ideal weather conditions this year. The contractor is currently installing the water main and storm sewer pipe on the new road. Welsh's building projects are moving faster, with all the steel frame work in place for Phase 4, and footing work well under way on Phases 2 and 3. 1997 Street Project The Public Works Director met on site with Central Landscaping people and explained why some of their work was unacceptable to the City. Central has since re-rolled most of the sod on James Avenue, and has agreed to re-grade and re-sod four small areas. Only two other small items remain to be addressed on the project punch list. .
