Sandy Berres began employment with the City on June 22, 1998. <br /> Job responsibilities currently include payroll, accounts payable and <br /> fixed assets. <br /> . Included with second quarter utility billings was an insert advising <br /> delinquent customers of a "Notice to Certify" unless balances were <br /> paid. The level of delinquency ($26,872.50) at this point in time is <br /> consistent with prior years. <br /> . Regarding the 1999 budget process, the Commissioner of Revenue <br /> has until July 31, 1998 to notify us of our levy limit. As discussed <br /> at the July 20, 1998 Worksession, this will be a key number. <br /> 10. Personnel <br /> Staff completed background checks and finalized the appointment of a <br /> new Associate Planner. At the same time, staff began review of <br /> applications for Department Secretary. <br /> Final changes to the position descriptions of the Public Works Director, <br /> . Department Secretary, and Receptionist have been made as a result of the <br /> ongoing reorganization previously approved by the City Council. With <br /> these changes, the majority of the issues discussed with the City Council <br /> have now been implemented. <br /> Other personnel issues included the preparation and completion of reviews <br /> of three employees, Staff has also been investigating the fonnal adoption <br /> of a Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) policy to assist with this process, <br /> To-date, staff has been following the general guidelines mandated by the <br /> federal government. <br /> Staff has also been working with Mr. Fred Reed on his leave of absence <br /> . due to his surgery and Local 49 related issues. <br /> 11. Public Works ISafety <br /> a. FEMA <br /> Staff worked with FEMA representatives to evaluate the likelihood <br /> of completing the necessary documentation to be reimbursed for <br /> our efforts to assist the City of Shoreview after the May tornado. <br /> Staff determined the effort would not be worthwhile for the City. <br /> . <br />
