.
CITY OF ARDEN HILLS
MEMORANDUM
DATE: August 13, 1998
TO: Brian Fritsinger, City Administrator
FROM: Dwayne Stafford, Arden Hills Public Works Director ye;
SUBJECT: Round Lake Road
Request
The City of Arden Hills Public Works Director requests Councils consideration of having the
City Engineer review the Gateway Business District Feasibility Study done in May, 1997 as it
pertains to Round Lake Road.
Background
The City of Arden Hills received a Feasibility Study in May of 1997 which addressed
improvements and options related to Round Lake Road and the Gateway Business District. At
that time it was Staffs understanding, the City Council favored a Boulevard type roadway, with
. a landscaped median, possible irrigation system, lighting, and enhanced landscaping. Upon
discussion of this with City Engineer Brown, quick cost estimates for that portion of Round Lake
Road between the south edge of the Indykiewicz property and Gateway Boulevard may exceed
those cost estimatcs provided by the Feasibility Study. Under these circumstances, Council may
wish to have the City Engineer do a review of the 1997 Feasibility Study including cost
estimates. Receiving the Engineers review may help Council determine the type of roadway and
enhancements most appropriate.
Recommendation
The Public Works Director recommends Council instruct the City Engineer to review and verify
costs estimates and options provided in the May 1997 feasibility study relating to Round Lake
Road.
.
