CITY OF ARDEN HILLS MEMORANDUM DATE: August 24, 1998 TO: Brian Fritsinger, City Administrator FROM: Dwayne Stafford, Arden Hills Public Works Director ~ SUBJECT: Monthly Department Head Report Public Safety Commission The City of Arden Hills Public Safety Commission held its regularly scheduled meeting on August 20, 1998 at City Hall. On the agenda was a request for "No Parking" signs on Shoreline Avenue just South of Edgewater Avenue in the southeast part of the city. The Public Safety Commission did not act on this request but will seek more information from the Sheriffs deputy making the request. Commission Chairman Tholen, also pointed out areas near the Big 10 Supper Club, and the Pot-O-Gold bingo parlor, which need "No Parking" signs. . The Public Works Department will look at these areas which were previously posted" No Parking" and replace signs as necessary. Chairman Tholen mentioned two items of interest: 1. One is that there has been some talk bfthe Sheriffs Department having a communications tower erected on the TCAAP site. 2. The Sheriff will have a full time liaison officer at Mounds View High School and 3 other schools this year. GMeway Most of the exterior work on Phases II, III, and IV is complete while interior work continues. The City Building Inspector and Public Works Director have identified defective work on the private storm sewer at Gateway and Mr. Scherbel will be advising the contractor of those findings. 1998 Street Project Edgewater Avenue appears to be ready for the final coarse of blacktop which will complete this street. Stowe Avenue also has the first coarse ofblacktop in place and boulevard sodding is underway. . Fairview A venue just needs additional Class V base and grading to be ready for curbing. Little if any work has been done on this street in the past three weeks. Sandeen Road has only been milled to date. New gas mains were installed earlier by NSP.
