Case #98-09, Special Use Permit (City Hall), City of Arden Hills, 1245 Highway 96 <br /> Request. The petitioner is requesting approval of a Special Use Permit (SUP) to facilitate <br /> the construction of an approximately 15,102 square foot City Hall at the southeast comer of <br /> Sunfish Lake on the Twin Cities Army Ammunition Plant (TCAAP) on a 2.4 acre parcel <br /> zoned R-I (Exhibit A). <br /> Background. The City of Arden Hills has been working on the plans for a new City Hall as <br /> well as the redevelopment of the TCAAP. The City's vision for the redevelopment of the <br /> . TCAAP include many uses, but the construction of the first new structure on this property <br /> will be a milestone for the City. <br /> The City Council has chosen Sunfish Lake as the location for the new City Hall. The City <br /> has been working with the U.S. Department of Defense and the Minnesota National Guard <br /> to obtain the right to construct such a facility on this property for some time now. The City <br /> Council believes that this discussion has progressed far enough to warrant moving forward <br /> with the necessary City approvals so that when the authorization from the property owner <br /> is granted the City can commence construction. <br /> Deadline for Agency Actions. The City of Arden Hills received the complete applicatiol1 <br /> for this request on July I, 1998. Pursuant to Minnesota State Statute the City must act on <br /> this request by Friday, August 29, 1998 (60 days), unless the City provides the petitioner <br /> with written reasons for an additional 60 day review period. The additional review period <br /> would extend to Thursday, October 29,1998. The City may with the petitioners consent <br /> extend the review period beyond the Thursday, October 29, 1998, date. <br /> Lastly, if the City denies the petitioners request, "... it must state in writing the reasons for <br /> the denial at the time that it denies the request." <br /> . <br /> ------- ------------- <br />
