She also stated that at this time it does not look like they . <br />will have to borrow or float bonds, but this could change down the road. <br />Commissioner Sand asked if this increase in the building cost will impact taxes. DRAFT <br />Councilmember Aplikowski said it would not. <br />Councilmember Aplikowski reported the Dan and Stacy Kubat variance on Lake Johanna <br />Boulevard was approved as well as the Ramsey County Site Plan to reconstruct the boat launch <br />and grade the road differently. <br />Chair Erickson asked when the Ramsey County Site Plan project is scheduled to begin. <br />Mr. Ringwald indicated it is probably scheduled for Spring and Councilmember Aplikowski <br />commented that they are out of money at this time and they don't want to start before Winter. <br />Councilmember Aplikowski reported the John McClung subdivision has been approved. She <br />stated the owner suggested he donate the lower one-third portion of the land to the City but the <br />City did not accept the suggestion at this time because they are not sure if this would be good <br />idea. She indicated it will come back to the City again in the future, in the mean time the <br />Council will think about it. <br />Councilmember Aplikowski reported the street improvement plans for next year will only e <br />include Round Lake Boulevard because that is all that can be afforded at this time. She said <br />there will be a feasibility study done on Hamline Avenue which has been on the books for a long <br />time as well as a study for Snelling A venue by Lindy's Triangle Corner where there is a big <br />easement problem. She stated the easement on the Snelling curve is 60 feet to 70 feet from the <br />actual roadway. <br />Councilmember Aplikowski reported that the Nixon home which burned down had been ordered <br />to be demolished but the owner addressed the Council, pleadingwith the them that he just needed <br />a little more time. He indicated he has been promised money and help to rebuild the home. The <br />Council decided to give him 40 more days to bring in plans and 30 days to rebuild the home. <br />Councilmember Aplikowski announced there will be a annual summer picnic for City empoyees <br />and committee volunteers on the 21 st of September in a park which will be determined in the <br />future. <br />COMMISSION COMMENTS <br />Commissioner Sand commented on the transportation issue and the need to work with the <br />owners of the two railroad bridges on New Brighton Road and Old Snelling to get widening of <br />the under pass to incorporate walking trails. He asked if this process has been started. <br />Mr. Ringwald indicated that it has been started and that the County is requesting Federal funding . <br />to rebuild both bridges in the year 2003. <br />
