Mr. Winkel has ordered a replacement and contacted the Sheriff. <br /> All of the Parks seasonal workers have left for the year. <br /> Last year the Parks department purchased a snowblower attachment for the City's skid steer <br /> loader and began snow removal on trails. Even with the mild winter and little snow the Parks <br /> Department had a least six incidents where the snow blower slid down a hill or slid off the side <br /> of a trail resulting in major towing efforts to retrieve the machine. In one instance the skid steer <br /> tipped part way over. The Public Works Director has asked Parks employees to map out areas <br /> where plowing can be done safely as Staff will need to revisit this issue before winter. <br /> Public Works Director <br /> The Public Works Director has spent a significant amount of time with Parks Foremen Winkel <br /> learning parks employees day to day activities and getting a feel for each others needs and <br /> expectations. Mr. Winkel seems very conscientious and easy to work with. <br /> The Public Works Director has so far taken over Parks purchasing and bill monitoring, time sheet <br /> review, time off scheduling, and monitoring daily activities of the department. <br /> The Public Works Director has advertised for a new emergency generator and has sent <br />. specifications and an invitation to bid to the three major generator suppliers in this area. Those <br /> being Caterpillar, Onan/Cummins, and Kato. <br /> The sewer rehabilitation project awarded earlier this year is well under way. The metal section of <br /> sanitary sewer pipe has a new plastic lining and many of the leaking joints have been sealed. <br /> Videos of before and after will be available for Council to view if they so desire. <br /> Work also continues on; DNR forms for the Lake Josephine Ordinance, Lift Station # 3 <br /> replacement, Ditch Evaluation, and Street Projcct Monitoring. <br /> On Septcmber 21, and 22, the city survived anothcr visit by an OSHA safety investigator. On the <br /> first day, the investigator reviewed the City's Safety Manual paying special attention to the <br /> A W AIR program, the Right To Know Program, the Personal Protection requirements and the <br /> Lock Out-Tag Out program. The investigator also reviewcd the City's OSHA 200 forms for the <br /> past 3 ycars. Thesc fonns deal with injuries and illnesses of City employees. <br /> On the second day, the investigator inspected the City maintenance facility. The City may expect <br /> a notice to con.eel the stairway leading to the balcony storagc area as it exceeds the safety limits <br /> for incline angle. The City had been warned on this issue at a previous OSHA inspection. A <br /> directive for compliance was not issued at that time as the possibility of a new facility was <br /> discussed. <br />e <br /> ~- <br />
