<br /> ------------ --------- <br /> .- <br />Monthly Department Head Report <br />Page 2 <br />A meeting was held with the City Engineer, his assistant, the Project Inspector, the Contractor . <br />and the Public Works Director on site. It was agreed the best thing for the City to do would be to <br />recycle thc existing blacktop, (grind it up and regrade it as additional road base material) <br />followed by a 3" coarse of bituminous pavement. The Public Works Director discussed this with <br />the City Administrator and Finance Director and the decision was made to procecd with the <br />recycling. Extra costs of approximately $6,000.00 for the recycling can be expected. <br />1999 Street Project <br />City Engineer Brown is looking at the entire Round Lakc Road project and staff has asked Mr. <br />Brown to provide costs for various options Council may wish to consider such as medians, street <br />width, etc. <br />Puhlic Works <br />In addition to their regular maintenance duties, Public Works employees have worked on the <br />following items this month: <br />. Additional catch basin and storm sewer repair. <br />. Replace broken pipe between #12 Lift Station and wet well. <br />. Clear sewer easement from Lift Station #5 (County Road E and Lake Johanna Blvd.) To <br /> Ramsey County compost site and built gate for easement entrance. <br />. Distribute and set up voting equipment. <br />. Replaced section of driveway apron at 1997 Lake Valentine Road which was part ofthc <br /> reconstmction project in 1995. (Crew found tree stump buricd under failed section) . <br />. Installed water mcters at Gateway buildings. <br />. Rcp1aced "No Parking" signs as requested by Ramsey County Sheriff near the Big Ten <br /> Supper Club. <br />. Installcd "Crime Watch" signs requested by Ramsey County Sheriff. <br />. Supply help and barricades to Ramsey County Sheriff for Tmck Inspection at North <br /> Heights Lutheran Church. <br />Both part-time Public Works employees have now left to return to school. Fred Reed has <br />informed the City he will return to work on October 19, 1998. <br />l'.ark.s. <br />Parks employees continue with there regular duties and have also worked on the following items <br />this month: <br />. Sprayed for poison ivy on City property near Childrens World where several children <br /> came in contact with the plant while picking pretty leaves for a teachers project. This area <br /> will also be mowed by Wednesday, September 23, 1998. <br />. Trimming and chipping trees in parks and along trails as time permits. <br />. Converting fields to fall and winter sports. <br />. Painted warnling houses at Freeway, Cummings, and Valentine parks. <br />. Installed several new signs along trails. ("Pick up after your dog" and "Stop" signs) <br />Parks Foreman Winkel has been working or removing a beaver dam on the Lake Valentine . <br />outlet. Water was starting to back up into Valentine Park. <br />
