,
Memorandum, 1999 Street Improvement Feasibility Report, WRLR (Phase II) .
Page Four
November 5,1998
Recommendation
Council will be presented with three different Alternatives ("A," "B," and "D") in the matter of
the proposed 1999 Phase II West Round Lake Road Reconstruction Project for consideration at
the November 9, 1998 regular Council meeting. The three Alternatives are as follows (note that
all include water/storm sewer upgrades):
"A" - Essentially rebuild existing 2 lane with curb and gutter $1,244,085
"B" - Two lane divided with raised median and turn lanes 1,972,210
"e" - Two lane undivided with center turn lane 1,543,835
Also, note the above estimated project costs for Altematives "B" and "D" do not include
enhancement options for streetlighting or landscaping, but do include a six foot concrete
side\'.~alk.
It appears that a central issue in Council's consideration of Alternative "B" is a costlbenefit
discussion regarding the $428,375 incremental cost of Alternative "B" over Alternative "D."
The City Engineer recommends that Council opt for Alternative "D." Staff concurs with this .
recommendation. Whichever Alternative Council endorses, they should also consider approving
Resolution No. 98-63, Resolution Receiving Preliminary Report in the Matter of the 1999 Street
Improvement Project, West Round Lake Road, and scheduling a public hearing on December 14,
1998 for this improvement.
,
.
- -----
