Past <br />problems have occurred with meeting schedules and substandard workmanship. In all cases Jay Bros, has <br />corrected deficiencies as asked prior to completing the projects, In order to assist in our evaluation of Jay <br />Bros, ability to complete the work, we asked the contractor to provide references relating specifically to <br />sanitary sewer lift station construction, The contractor has provided the City Engineer with a list of <br />references and the Public Works Director and City Engineer have contacted many of the references, All <br />references contacted indicated that Jay Bros, performed acceptable work although schedules were not always <br />met. The contract specifications include specific completion dates for project milestones and Jay Bros, have <br />submitted a schedule indicating that they can meet these dates, <br />Based upon our review as outlined above, we feel that Jay Bros" Inc. and their designated subcontractors <br />are capable of satisfactorily completing the work required by this project. We also feel that the bid price is <br />reflective of current market conditions and is a fair price for the proposed improvements. We, therefore, <br />recommend the award of the Lift Station #3 Reconstruction Project to Jay Bros.
