.
ARDEN IDLLS PLANNING COMMISSION - DECEMBER 2, 1998 DRAFT 12
,
Chair Erickson requested an update regarding the new City Hall. Councilmember Malone .
indicated there had been no new progress. Commissioner Rye asked if the design of the new
City Hall had been approved. Mr. Ringwald indicated that it had been.
Commissioner Sand expressed his appreciation for the information regarding the Cellular Phone
towers, Councilmember Malone pointed out the information is regarding the broadcast tower for
Fox-TV, not the cellular phone company. Commissioner Sand indicated that the City must keep
on top of this situation so they don't end up with a 2,000 foot radio tower.
Councilmember Malone responded that the television station wanted to go digital which would
require a new channel. The FCC decided to provide the new channel with the conditions that it
must be in service by the year 2006 and the old spectrum must be given back. The station had
not been allowed to construct a new tower; however, this agreement with the FCC may allow the
stations to force the City into approving a new tower and this will be difficult to fight.
Commissioner Rye handed out copies of an article from the "On Wisconsin" magazine entitled
"Taming the Suburban Wasteland." He indicated that this may be applicable to residential
development of the TCAAP area,
ADJOURNMENT
Commissioner Nelson moved, seconded by Commissioner Sand to adjourn the meeting at .
9:05 p.m. The motion passed unanimously (6-0),
.
