e e e CITY OF ARDEN mLLS MEMORANDUM DATE: March 23, 1999 TO: Brian Fritsinger, City Administrator Dwayne Stafford, Public Works Director 'Vs Monthly Department Head Report FROM: SUBJECT: Public Safetr Commission The Public Safety Commission did not meet in March, as there were no issues for their agenda. West Round Lake Road. Phase I Staffhas been meeting with equipment buyers and an auctioneer in an effort to dispose of the Indykiewicz equipment. A preconstruction meeting for the project will be held Wednesday, March 24"', with work expected to start by April 15"'. Lift Station No, 3 Lift Station No.3 is in full operation and working well. Clean up around the structure will be done as soon as the soils dry out. Public Works staffhas gutted the original structure, saving some equipment which may be used in other stations if needed. Public Works Deoartment The City received approximately 16 inches of snow on March 81h and 91h. The main streets in the City were kept open during working hours on the 8"', but plows were pulled off at 3 :30 in the City, as were the County and State plows. I thought, under the conditions, it made sense for the crew to get some rest and start at 2:00 a.m. on the 9"', hoping to have most roads cleared by the rush hours. Some weren't, however, and we received a half dozen complaints; but we did get about four compliments too. The streets were cleared by 9:30 a.m. Other department activities this month included: . Erecting new parking ordinance signs . Flushing several low flow sewer lines and dead end manholes . Starting street sweeping . Posting road restrictions . Repairing watermain break on Glenview Court . Repairing hydrant broken offby Big Ten Supper Club . Pothole repair . Replacing approximately one dozen street signs . Tree trimming on sewer easements
