~

. Dais monitors and electronics feeding those have been eliminated, as recommended by Peter Vesterholt. The.
drawback to this of course is that the view to the rear screen is poorer for the council than with the dais
monitors.

. Data projector reduced from an Electrohome DL VI280 to Proxima. This eliminates the ability to handle
IIDTV (the projector will have to be replaced if/when you go to that format), and some quality is sacrificed.

. The Leightronix Automated Playback COntroller that you already own will be reused.

. Simplified AMX Control system by eliminating cable cast c:ameras from AMX control. This talces the ability
away from the presenter at the lectern to control the cameras, a feature that we had in the recommended system
as an option, but would not have been implemented anyway.

. Reduced some presentation system fJ:om Extron brand to Inlille brand. The Inline brand is a less fllqlflnSive
brand.

. Eliminated waveform monitor and vectOJ: scope. These are us'ed by the operator for setting up proper levels of
cameras, etc. The operator will have to adjust "by eye" and the cable company may have to contact the city
from time to time in order to ask for some signal adjustments.

. Reduced main rack from a four bay console to a three bay console. This will provide adequate space, but
limited growth space.

. Audio monitoring in the control room is done via 13" TV set internal loudspeaker instead ofa dedicated
loudspeaker.

The above cost should be around $119,000 installed (no tax). In addition to this number, we can bid the following
alternates if you wish: .

ALT ONE:
The addition ofa camera to the cable casting system brings the total of cameras to three. Value around $13,500.

ALT TWO:
The addition of a character generation system for the Bulletin Board broadcasts with off-air music as background.
Value around $ 6,000.

Recommendation:

.

Due to the total dollars being under the council maximum goal ($120,000), we would recommend tilat you attempt to
get approval for the $120,000 figure. If the council is looking for a number closer to $110,000, the only single
remaining cut ofthat magnitude would be the overhead camera over the lectern for about $8,000. Otherwise, the entire
presentation system or the entire cable coverage system would have to be cut. Bither cut of this scale would bring the
budget under the $90,000 minimum goal. We do not see a way to retain either of those sys~ in working order with
further partial cuts.

Please review and get back to me. I would like to move ahead with the design next week if possible. I will be out of
town until April 26. If you have any questions, please give me a call at that time.

'WJ)

Dickson Stewart
Principal

Cc Peter Vesterholt

.

Electronic Interiors, Inc., Letter 04/21/99, Page 2

ur'r!
