Round Lake Road
Arden Hills, MN 55112

Dear Nancy Randall:

The management ofFriskies PetCare is requesting a site plan review for the construction
of a bio-filter on its property located at 4251 Femwood Avenue.

e

The purpose of this bio-filter will be to significantly further reduce the odor that is
generated by the petfood baking process. The engineering design and installation
contractor that we have selected for this installation is Biorem.

An expert odor consultant along with Friskies PetCare's envirorunental, technical experts
and engineers, has been researching improvements to the plant odor emission. We have
determined that the natural bacteriological system used by the bio-filter is the most
effective enhancement. The Friskies representatives have visited several sites using
Biorem Bio-filters. These sites have had a dramatic reduction in odors and odor
complaints. Observations by Friskies personnel have indicated that the facility odor was
close to being non-detectable after the discharge air flowed through the bio-filter.

As you can see from the attached site plan, the bio-filter will be constructed behind the
plant and will be landscaped to reduce its visual impact.

If you have any questions about the site plan, please contact me.

Thank you for your consideration.

e

SP;'!1J0

Ken Hola
Plant Manager
Friskies PetCare

REC!=lvr-o
JUL 2 3 1999

01Y Of ARUti~ liiU5

_.
