Malone has submitted his resignation as an Arden Hills Councilmember <br />effective on November 30, 1999, As a result of this action, the City of Arden Hills must, <br />correspondingly, declare that a vacancy exists on the Arden Hills City Council for the unexpired <br />term of Mr. Malone's Council seat until December 31, 2000, <br /> <br />Discussion <br />In anticipation of the passage of this resolution, the City Council, at the October 18, 1999 <br />Council Worksession, discussed a process by which the vacancy would be filled, Briefly, the <br />process calls for interested parties to complete an appointment application; the City to advertise <br />the vacancy in the November 3 and November 10, 1999 editions of the Official City Newspaper; <br />application cutoff date to be November 22, 1999; Council to review applications on November <br />29, 1999, and determine if interviews or recommendation to appoint is most appropriate; and <br />swear in the new Councilmember at the December 13, 1999 regular Council meeting, <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />The City Council is asked to approve Resolution No, 99-38 entitled, "A Resolution Declaring <br />That a Vacancy Exists as Councilmember," at the October 25, 1999 regular Council meeting, <br />
