.

-

-

tit

Nancy Randall
City of Arden Hills
Generator Variance
Septembe10, 1999

LI/ /3.

~ C' "r~.- ')

8. Why not on the North End of the building?

Answer: The generator is significantly more visible, too close to the
pond and creek. Placing the generator at the North End of the building
locates the unit at a significant distance from the electrical access and
panels, which are located on the South End of the building. We would
loose power output due to the length of the power lines required. It would
be too cumbersome to maintain and fuel and we would have a difficult
time getting a truck through our parking lot. It would be out of sight
making it subject to vandalism, more difficult for our personnel to observe
during operation and significantly more costly to install.

Rick Apple from Alliance Energy, Beth Mahalia, Midway Operations Dept and I
will be attending the Planning Commission meeting on October 6, 1999 at 7:30
p.m.

Please contact Beth Mahalia at (651) 628-5842 or myself at (651) 628-5840 with
any questions.

Sincerely,

Robert C.
