.

.

.

CITY OF ARDEN HILLS

MEMORANDUM

DATE:

December 9, 1999

TO:

Mayor and City Council
Joe Lynch, City Administrator~

FROM:

SUBJECT:

2000 Pay Plan

Requested Action
The City Council is asked to consider changes to the 2000 Pay Plan.

Backl!:round
The Arden Hills City Council has historically amended its Pay Plan at the beginning of each
calendar year. During 1997, the City Council negotiated the labor agreement with the Local 49,
which included a three percent (3%) increase in base pay, and an additional $10 per month to be
contributed to the employee insurance premiums. Changes were made to the Pay Plan in 1999.
The affects of a 3% increase on pay ranges for the Year 2000 are shown in Attachment A.

In 1998, the City contributed up to $320 per month to use toward employee health and dental
insurance. With the $10 per month increase in 1999, the City would contribute $330 per month
toward health and dental insurance. The 2000 Pay Plan has been revised to contribute an
additional $10 per month toward these same costs.

Recommendation
Staff recommends that the City Council adopt Resolution No. 99-48, identifying the 2000 Pay
Plan, including an increase of $1 0 per month toward employee health and dental insurance
premiums.

Enclosures: Attachment A, Proposed 2000 Pay Plan
