Round Lake Rd.
Arden Hills, MN 55112

Re: Planning Case #00-11
Zoning Ordinance Amendments

Dear Mayor and Council Members:

We are in favor of the proposed amendments to the zoning ordinance as outlined in the
memorandum from Jennifer Chaput, City Planner, to Mayor and City Council dated July
10,2000.

We have lived here for 13 years and have twQdaughters aged 6 and 4. We have several
reasons for being in favor of these changes, mainly stemming from the house next to us -
1898 Noble Road. This house was sold two years ago and has been converted to a
"dorm" for college students. The owner has told us there are currently 1 I people living
there.

Usually there are 9 to 12 vehicles at the residence overnight, counting those parked in the
driveway, parked in the street (often in front the fire hydrant that is between our
driveways), and parked illegally in the Sampson Park parking lot. Our front lawn has
been driven on multiple times because the residents did not want to move the cars that
were blocking them in on their driveway. The owner has since put up a fence to put an
end to such behavior - an action we would like to think could have been solved by other
means, like respect for property and common sense. Visibility is also an issue with this
number of vehicles, especially when our daughters like to ride their bicycles/tricycles or
when Bob leaves for work in the morning. We don't appreciate living next to a parking
lot.

Weare also concerned about the number of people in the house. Just a couple of people
having a "few friends" over means parking up and down both sides of the street. Recently
we have counted as many as 11 cars in the street from friends visiting them on weekday
evenings (between 7:30 and 10:00 PM). This creates problems for everyone driving on
