CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br />2000 STREET <br />RECONSTRUCTION <br />FACT SHEET <br /> <br /> <br />Included are a few facts pertaining to street reconstruction that may answer some <br />of the questions you may have. <br /> <br />Boulevard <br />Refers to the lawn area between the back of the curb or edge of the pavement <br />and the property line. Usually extends 12' to 14' behind curb or road edge. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Concrete Curb and Gutter <br />Give the roadway a maintenance edge. <br />Protect the Bituminous Pavement at the edges. <br />Protect the boulevard from snow plows and traffic. <br />Keeps boulevards from eroding. <br />Channels storm water runoff. <br /> <br />Storm Sewer <br />Directs storm water runoff to treatment ponds. <br />Prevents street flooding by piping the storm water runoff underneath the road. <br />Subdrains are installed beneath the road surface to prevent subbase washout <br />and frost heaves. <br /> <br />Ponds <br /> <br />Treat storm water runoff. <br />Settle Particulates and Pollutants. <br />Skim floating debris. <br />Control runoff rates into receiving waters. <br />(Local drainage flows to Lake Josephine or Lake Johanna) <br /> <br />Sodding <br />Residential boulevards and yards will be resodded in areas disturbed by <br />construction. <br />Sod is warrantied to 30 days after installation. <br />Residents are strongly encouraged to water new sod frequently. <br /> <br />. <br />
