<br />Bituminous Pavement <br />Designed for a 20 year pavement life... <br />Generally 4 inches thick on an 8 to 12-inch gravel base and a 12-inch sand baSe. <br />Typically sealcoated within 2 to 3 years after initial installation and every 7 to <br />10 years thereafter. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Driveways <br />Concrete driveway aprons will be installed to the same width of the existing <br />driveway. (10 feet minimum, 22 feet maximum) <br />The aprons are 5 feet deep and 7 inches thick and installed within 2 days of <br />concrete curb installation. <br />Driveways will be rebuilt in areas disturbed with the same material removed. <br />(example: concrete, bituminous, pavers, etc.) <br />Driveway pavement will be neatly sawcut at the removal limits. (typically a joint <br />in concrete and wherever necessary in bituminous) <br />Driveways will typically not be removed past the road right of way <br /> <br />Signs and Mailboxes <br />Signs and mailboxes that conform to standards will be replaced. (non conforming <br />mailboxes are the residents responsibility to replace) <br /> <br />Landscaping and Irrigation Within the Right of Way <br />The right of way is typically 14 feet behind the curb or 30 feet from the <br />centerline of the roadway. <br />Trees, Shrubs, Irrigation systems and lawn decoration within the right of way <br />are the resident's responsibility to remove and replace if necessitated by <br />roadway reconstruction. (Typically very few landscaping/tree impacts occur in <br />projects) <br />Anything disturbed by the project outside of the right of way will be replaced <br />by the City at no cost to the resident. <br /> <br />Sequence of Work <br />Removals <br />Storm Sewer Installation <br />Road Base <br />Curb and Gutter/Driveway Aprons <br />Pavement Base Course <br />Landscaping <br />Pavement Wear Course <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />2 to 3 weeks <br />1 to 2 weeks <br />1 to 2 weeks <br />1 to 2 weeks <br />1 to 2 days/street <br />1 to 2 weeks <br />1 to 2 days/street <br /> <br />(Note: Many of the above tasks will occur simultaneously. Typically Arden Hills <br />requires the contractor to have the pavement base course installed within 24 days of <br />removing the existing pavement. Street access for the residents will be maintained . <br />throughout construction. Residents may be unable to access driveways for a period of <br />up to 5 days to allow concrete curbs and aprons to cure, during this time residents <br />would be allowed to park in the street. Special access accommodations can be made for <br />residents with disabilities.) <br />
