Pomeroy
Subject: Bethel College - West Property - Lighting Changes

Nancy:

Please see the attached drawings illustrating pole locations and footcandle counts for 20' high
poles OR 12' high poles (plus a 3' high concrete footing). Also, I have included a sketch of a
possible servcie building for the tennis courts (similar to the dugouts proposed at the softball
field and serving the same fimction fur the tennis players).

Lighting:

20' Poles: As you can see, the coverage remains consistent by revising the location of the four
(4) poles and adding 2 fixtures, Cut-offs at the property line are all under 1 footcandle at the City
P.L. And under 0.01 at the neighbors property line(s).

12' Poles: The coverage is a little more spotty (bright spots vs. dark areas) than the 20' or 30'
pole height options. Cut-offs at the property line are less than the 20' poles (right around 0.02
footcandles), however, the poles are more numerous and closer to the property comer.

I really like the 'look' of the 12' pole optiOD, however, because the poles are closer to the
neighbors and because the light levels get very low and are fairly inconsistent, my
reconunendation would be to go with the 20' poles

Let's discuss how we should treat this revision as it relates to the City Council meeting.

cc:

Bruce Kunkel- Bethel (F: 651-635-8880)
