Factories no longer custom paint vehicles on orders ofless than five (5) vehicles. e The New Tractor Backboe The City has the option of purchasing Caterpillar and Case tractor backhoes through the Minnesota CPV and both have been demonstrated at the City in recent weeks. Both machines performed well and the City has received quotes on similar sized machines with similar equipment. Case was the preferred choice by the Public Works employees and has also submitted the lowest price Using the CPV numbers. This price is $71,529.66 including sales tax through St. Joseph Equipment Inc., Shakopee, Minnesota. Old Pickun Truck If the 1991 pickup were placed in the State Surplus Auction, the Public Works Director would expect it to sell for approximately $4500. The auction service Would charge the City 7%, or $315. This would result in a net amount of about $4100 for the piCkup. The City Public Works Department has a fulltime crew of six (6) plus up to two (2) seasonal helpers. In many instances larger dump trucks are used for simple errands, parts runs, or day to day activities, when a pickup would be adequate. e Recommendations 1. Pickup The Public Works Director reCommends the City Council authorize the purchase of one (1) new V. ton Ford pickup from Boyer Trucks Inc., at a purchase price of $21,157.29, including sales tax. The new pickup would then be painted Arden Hills tan by Maaco Body Shop, at a cost of$750. The Public Works Director further recommends Council authorize Public Works to keep the 1991 pickup to use as a backup vehicle for the department. e
