Cleveland Avenue Railroad Bridge <br />After many delays, the County has assured the City the Cleveland Avenue Railroad <br />Bridge will be replaced in 2000, <br /> <br />Sewer Svstem <br />. Cleaning and televising of the third of eight sections of the City was started as part of <br />a $200,000 project to repair an area of the City sewer system near the Lake Valentine <br />Townhomes, Actual repair work should begin in 2000, <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Lift station #3 near Siems Court on Lake Johanna Boulevard was replaced with a new <br />station using current technology and works well. Replacement costs were <br />approximately $70,000. Public Works employees provided the finish grading, sod <br />and seed for the project. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Sewer lines previously inaccessible were cleaned using the City's new easement <br />machine, which was purchased jointly with the City of White Bear, The joint <br />purchase has worked fine to this point. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Several lift station force main breaks occurred on Highway 96 in 1999, resulting in <br />wastewater spilling into wetland areas, MPCA was notified and kept current, and <br />spillage was held to a minimum, No cleanup was required as a result. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Water Svstem <br />. Breaks <br />The City experienced four water main breaks in 1999, The most serious was an eight <br />inch line on Highway 96, that had a hole about the size of a softball in it, and went <br />undetected for an estimated two months. The leaking water followed a Highway 96 <br />ditch to a culvert and made its way into Round Lake, A Public Works employee <br />noticed the ground steaming in the area and stopped for a look. Public Works knew <br />something was wrong as the City's water pumping station was running more than <br />usual. <br /> <br />. Meter Replacement <br />The contract to replace or upgrade the residential water meters was awarded to <br />Hydro Supply of Bums vi lie, Minnesota. All of the preliminary work to begin the <br />replacement has been completed and the project is now commencing, A sump pump <br />inspection will be done along with the meter replacement. Meter installers have been <br />trained to look for illegal sump drains connected to the sewer system, <br /> <br />e <br />
