He noted that the topography is very limiting. <br /> <br />Commissioner Sand moved, seconded by Commissioner Duchenes to recommend <br />approval of Planning Case #00-19, Front Yard Setback Variance (27 feet proposed where <br />40 feet is required) for an addition and garage, with the following condition: <br /> <br />1. If the structure is damaged, in excess of the building code threshold for damage, <br />the variance would no longer be valid. <br /> <br />The motion carried unanimously (5-0). <br /> <br />This Planning Case will be reviewed at the Monday, April 24, 2000, City Council meeting. <br /> <br />PLANNING CASE #00-11 - CITY OF ARDEN HILLS - ORDINANCE AMENDMENTS <br />(DISCUSSION ONLy) <br /> <br />Ms. Randall stated that she had anticipated tonight's meeting would be a lengthy one, and so <br />provided some background materials for the Commissioners to review before the next meeting. <br />She added that more information needs to be collected from other communities and compiled <br />into one comprehensive packet. She noted there have been many changes in requirements which <br />should be reflected in the City's ordinances, such as residential parking, paved surfaces and lot <br />coverage, parking on lawns, and many other issues. <br /> <br />. Chair Erickson asked whether there is a City ordinance regulating bituminous driveways. Ms. <br />Randall stated there is nothing in the City ordinances pertaining to this, or other residential <br />parking requirements. She added this might be tied together in the same ordinance. <br /> <br />Ms. Randall stated she would be in attendance at the Commission's next meeting. She added <br />that 2 candidates for her replacement had been interviewed and one was selected to be offered <br />after approval had been obtained at the City Council's Monday, April 10 meeting. <br /> <br />Ms. Randall stated the Commissioners were invited to attend a Sensible Land Use Coalition <br />seminar on land use and transportation. She requested interested Commissioners to return the <br />registration form to her. <br /> <br />COUNCIL REPORT <br /> <br />Councilmember Larson stated that the Council reviewed 4 items which the Commission had <br />acted upon. He noted the variance request from Lawrence Erickson was not approved and no <br />further action was taken, although the request was approved at the Council's next meeting. He <br />noted the comer setback variance request from Chuck Mertensotto was tabled, and the applicant <br />was requested to return with some new ideas, after which action was delayed for 60 days. He <br />noted the home business request for a personal training studio was approved. He noted the rear <br />yard variance request from Robert Alexander was approved. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Councilmember Larson noted, with regard to the Associate Planner position, that an offer would <br />be made this week, and the Council was pleased to have had 2 good candidates to choose from. <br />
