<br />. <br /> <br />CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />May 24, 2000 <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />Joe Lynch, City Administrator <br />Dwayne Stafford, Public Works Director Ys- <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Year 2000 Seal Coating Project <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />Backl!round <br />The Arden Hills City Council had decided at earlier meetings to undertake street <br />reconstruction projects every other year, verses annually, as was the case, This would <br />allow the City to take on larger projects, and hopefully attract more bidders, resulting in <br />potential cost savings, In the years between reconstruction projects, sealcoating and <br />overlay work would be done, The City had budgeted $30,000 per year for sealcoating, <br />which would amount to $60,000 every other year, <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Work Session Discussions <br />At the May 15th Council Work Session, the Public Works Director asked for Council to <br />consider the use of Dresser Trap Rock as the sealcoating aggregate in lieu of the <br />traditional pea rock type aggregate, The Director explained that neighboring cities have <br />found the Dresser aggregate to last longer and it has a better, more uniform appearance, <br /> <br />Council instructed Public Works to try the Dresser aggregate, but keep costs as close to <br />budget as possible, ($60,000) <br /> <br />Streets Identified for Year 2000 Sealcoatinl! <br />The Arden Hills City Engineer and Public Works Director have identified the following <br />streets for sealcoating in 2000: <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Prior Avenue <br />Jerrold Avenue <br />Edgewater Avenue <br />Glenpaul Avenue <br />Stowe Avenue <br />Sandeen Road <br />Beckman Avenue <br />Oak Avenue <br />Pascal Avenue <br />Arden Oaks Drive <br />Arden Oaks Court <br />Gateway Boulevard <br />Gateway Court <br />
