<br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />t=-~l-\ If;j.-r f' '5 <br /> <br />CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: August 3, 2000 <br /> <br />TO: Mayor and City Council <br /> <br />FROM: Jennifer Chaput, City PlannerC(1J <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Case #00-28, City of Arden Hills <br />Zoning Ordinance Ameudment (Antennas) <br /> <br />Request <br />The City of Arden Hills requests that Section VI(I) (Antennas)ofthe City's Zoning <br />Ordinance be amended to better handle requests for the location of telecommunication <br />antennas and their ground-related structures on City water tower sites. <br /> <br />Background <br />At their regular meeting on May 8, the City Council passed Resolution 00-20 to direct <br />staffto no longer accept applications for the location of telecommunication antenna and <br />ground structures on the water towers in Arden Hills until such time as a master plan had <br />been developed and accepted by the City. The Planning Commission discussed revising <br />the antenna section ofthe Zoning Ordinanee during the June and July meetings and held a <br />public hearing on proposed amendments in August. The proposed language ehanges are <br />a result of Planning Commission discussions of other cities' ordinances and policies <br />regarding their water tower sites. <br /> <br />The City has two water towers: Red Fox Road and Fernwood Ave. N. The Red Fox <br />tower has at least three ground mounted structures plus one City building and the <br />Fernwood tower has one ground mounted structure at this time.
