<br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: September 19,2000 <br /> <br />TO: Mayor and City Council <br /> <br />FROM: Jennifer Chaput, City PIannerLf' <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Case #00-28, City of Arden Hills <br />Zoning Ordinance Amendment (Antennas) <br /> <br />Relluest <br />The City of Arden Hills requests that Section VI (I) (Antennas) of the City's Zoning <br />Ordinance be amended to better handle requests for the location oftelecommunication <br />antennas and their ground-related structures on City water tower sites. <br /> <br />Back!!round <br />At their regular meeting on May 8, 2000, the City Council passed Resolution 00-20 to <br />direct staff to no longer accept applications for the location of telecommunication antenna <br />and ground structures on the water towers in Arden Hills until such time as a master plan <br />had been developed and accepted by the City. The Planning Commission discussed <br />revising the antenna section of the Zoning Ordinance during the June and July meetings <br />and held a public hearing on proposed amendments in August. The proposed language <br />changes are a result of Planning Commission discussions of other cities' ordinances and <br />policies regarding their water tower sites. <br /> <br />The City has two water towers: Red Fox Road (Exhibit A) and Fernwood Ave. N. <br />(Exhibit B). The Red Fox tower has at least three ground mounted structures plus one <br />City building and the Fernwood tower has one ground mounted structure at this time. <br />The following is a list of the applications by telecommunications companies for location <br />on the water towers to date: <br /> <br />Plannin!!
