According to City records the <br />fee for this service has been $4714 per month since 1995, This amounts to approximately <br />$24 per year per household. Residents currently pay $22.45 per year for the service. The <br />additional $1.55 is made up by a SCORE Grant cach year which is typically about <br />$20,000. This grant also covers staff time and the materials needed for overseeing the <br />program. The last agrecmcnt with E-Z Recycling, Inc. expired on Decembcr 31,1999. <br /> <br />New Al!reement <br />The City Accountant and Public Works Director have been in contact with neighboring <br />cities and suburbs such as Plymouth, New Hopc and Golden Valley, regarding their <br />current agreements, Some cities have signed agrccments wherehy the city pays a higher <br />rate, but will share in profits if the market for recyclables is good. Most cities though <br />seem to favor a guaranteed flat low ratc, <br /> <br />New Brighton has extended their contract with E-Z Recycling, Inc. for three years, with <br />an increase in cost of7%, This will bring New Brighton's cost up to $2.14 per month per <br />household. New Brighton's collection occurs every other week. <br /> <br />The City of Shoreview extendcd their contract with Wastc Management at a 3% increase <br />for thrcc years, bringing their recycling cost to $2.13 per month per household. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />E-Z Recvclinl!. Inc. Proposal to Arden Hills <br />E-Z Recycling, Inc, has offered to continue the recycling service currently provided to <br />the City for a 3% increase. They attribute rising fuel costs for most oftheir increase, <br />This would raise the City's cost from $4714 to $4855 per month, or from about $2 per <br />month to about $2.08 per month per household. Staff had anticipated this increase when <br />the 2001 rates were established previously. E-Z Rccycling, Inc. will also change their <br />pickup days in January of2001 to cOlTespond with the new Garbage Collection <br />Ordinance #319, if their new offcr is accepted. <br />
