The projects are proposed to begin in January, 2001 to utilize winter weather conditions
for lift station and trunk sewer rehabilitation work. Sanitary flows are lower during the winter
months and therefor thesc facilities are easier to replace and rehabilitate during the winter. The
project estimates arc all within the previously budgeted amounts for 2001. We propose to bid all
of the following work in One contract to reduce overhead and administration costs associated with
smaller projects.

Lift Station #8

Lift station #8 is located in the nOltheast corner of Ingerson Road and Hamline A venue North.
The lift station is a duplex wetJdry well station with two 50-horsepower shaft drive pumps,
designed to handle a maximum flow of 1700 gallons per minute with a 75-foot dynamic lift head.
This station servcs the southeast one third of the city which includes a majority of the city's
industrial area. CUlTently the control panel for thc pumps is enclosed within a brick surface
building located directly over the underground concretc dry well and wet well.

.

This station is subject to heavy flows, panicularly during wct periods. During rainy times it has
been noted that both pumps are operating continuously in tandcm to keep up with the influent. In
the event that either pump is inoperable or the station loses power during heavy inflow periods,
City Crews only have approximately 30 minutes (depending on inflow rates at the time of the
outage) to get the station operating before the system begins to baek up which
