Recommendations

.

Based on the survey responses, I would draw the following conclusions and would like to
offer several recommendations,

.

Arden Hills Notes is an effective publication that is meeting the needs of at least a
portion of the city population,

.

However, the newsletter could be improved making the following revisions:

-Strive to establish a consistent distribution date each month,

-Find ways to communicate issues as they emerge and to provide more detail
when possible, (I know this is difficult. Sometimes it's not feasible or practical
to discuss emerging issues because there are many unknown factors, In addition,
space in the newsletter is extremely limited, and it's possibly not the best vehicle
for lengthy discussions.)

-Look for ways to tell stories graphically, with simple, clear charts, graphs, line
drawings and maps,

-Think of the newsletter as one of a number of city communication tools, and look
for ways to use the newsletter in combination with the other tools, For instance, .
for residents looking for more information about city issues, the proposed web
site might be an excellent resource, The newsletter could be effective in
promoting the web site and helping educate people about its features, The same is
true of cable TV. Cable broadcasts can provide the kind of detailed information
that many people seek Again, the newsletter can be a tool to promote the cable
resource and to let people know what's available there,

e
