In <br />Greater Minnesota, 1 of the 6 highest priority areas is included as part of a project <br />already planned for in the STIP. <br /> <br />The future is less certain for noise mitigation retrofit (Type II) projects located along <br />existing freeways and expressways where construction and major reconstruction <br />projects have not been identified. Restrictions on the eligibility of Type II projects for <br />federal funding means that retrofit noise mitigation projects will have to rely entirely on <br />state funding.
