For noise walls proposed for construction after the year 2001, site selection will <br />be based on this priority study and MnlDOT will identify funding by working <br />through the STIP investment process. Mn/DOT will have discretionary authority <br />over the use of state funds. <br /> <br />As a part of this effort: <br /> <br />a. Federal and state funds will continue to be sought for any noise mitigation <br />needed in conjunction with proposed new highway construction and major <br />reconstruction projects. <br /> <br />b. A state funded only program will be initiated and managed through the <br />STIP investment process for funding retrofit highway noise mitigation <br />projects along existing freeways and expressways. <br /> <br />4. Mn/DOT will continue working with local units of government to coordinate land <br />use planning adjacent to transportation facilities. <br /> <br />Maps showing the locations of the seven priority areas where noise walls are proposed <br />are included on the following pages. <br /> <br />11 <br />
