.

.

.

FEB 07 2001 14:55 FR

./

TO 211738

P.04/08

1:"://1--

Buildings shall be designed with an architectural finish on all sides of the stntcture
that is consistent with adjacent building design (using the Architectural Guidelines
that are also providcd to the developer).

C. If this proposal is to be recommended for approval, and in addition to resolving traffic
issues, I would encourage the following to be incorporated into the site!building/signage
design:

+ Increase the number and type of trees (especially coniferous variety to increase
"green" space during winter months);

+ Revicw more carefully the lighting plan especially with respeet to the "color" and
"intensity" of the light being generated (is it the blue/white or softer, orange/pink,
color'1)

+

Modify and reposition the monument sign so that it incorporates a referenee to the
City, e.g. by adding the name "A,den HUIs" to the portion ofthe sign just below the
changeable typeface portion oftbe sign or, alternatively, ehange and reposition the
monument sign so that it is exclusively/primarily a City identifieation sign with
nO changeable typeface (much like what the City appointed task force recommended
and Walgreens itselfhas done in Boca Raton, FLl and allow Walgreens to have a
second monument or pylon sign at the North entrance/exit drive along Lexington
similar to what has been proposed. (See rough sketches attached.)
Eithcr design modification would provide the City the Gateway signage
cnvisioned by the work of both the Parkway/Gateway and the Gateway Signagetask
forces (as well as removing a "neon" sign from a prominent Gateway loeation), and
would provide Walgreens additional "advertising" signage at the Lexington
entrance to its drive-up pharmacy location.

__._0"
