<br />1 <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />CITY OF ARDEN HILLS, MINNESOTA DR.,f\FT <br />REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />JULY 9, 2001 <br />7:30 P.M. - ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, Mayor Dennis Probst called to order the regular <br />City Council meeting at 7:33 p.m. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Dennis Probst, Councilmembers Beverly Aplikowski, David Grant, <br />and Lois Rem. <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />Councilmember Gregg Larson. <br /> <br />Also present were City Administrator, Joe Lynch; City Accountant, Terrance Post; City <br />Engineer, Greg Brown, BRW; and Recording Secretary, Nancy Czajkowski. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MEETING AGENDA <br /> <br />MOTION: <br /> <br />Councilmember Grant moved and Councilmember Aplikowski seconded a motion <br />to adopt the agenda for the July 9, 2001, regular City Council meeting. The <br />motion carried unanimously (4-0). <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING - LAKE JOHANNA ORDINANCE <br /> <br />Mayor opened the public hearing at 7:33 p.m. <br /> <br />Mr. Lynch explained the recommendation ofthe City Attorney and the specific changes to the <br />ordinance. He noted they left the ability to have an area at the 250-foot distance, but removed <br />the language requiring buoys. He added the City could still place buoys if they wanted to later. <br />He stated they would not need to change the entire ordinance because they only changed these <br />portions. <br /> <br />Ms. Nancy Hansen, 3368 Lake Johanna Boulevard, stated she has been a resident for 55 years. <br />She noted she spoke in favor of dropping the mandatory buoy language. She added she had <br />asked many times for some way for residents to acquire regulation buoys to place in their <br />swimming areas. She stated people fear for their personal safety. She noted that these buoys <br />would not be 250 feet out. <br /> <br />Mr. Darrel Durheim, 1690 Lake Johanna Boulevard, stated he was speaking in favor of what was <br />being proposed. He congratulated the Council for doing what was requested by those that were <br />here the last time this was discussed. He noted they did a good job taking care of a minor <br />complaint without messing with the majority of the ordinance, which was of concern. <br /> <br />. Ms. Roberta Thompson, 3413 Snelling Avenue, thanked the Council and staff for the work done. <br />She noted they listened to the citizens. She added she was in support of what was proposed.
