Hunt
1986 Glenpaul A venue
Arden Hills, MN 55112
(651) 636-7752

,
\

,...,,:~

l..1

September 10,2001

City of Arden Hills
4364 West Round Lake Blvd.
Arden Hills, MN 55112

Dear Mayor of Arden Hills and City Council Members;

I'm writing to you in order to address the contents of an Arden Hills memo from Michael Cronin to Joe
Lynch, dated August 21, 2001, Subject: Presbyterian Homes Lake Johanna and New Brighton Road. (See
Attachment.) This memo references the potentIal development of the property triangle located at the corner
of New Brighton Road and Lake Johanna Blvd. While there has been no official Arden Hills case number
assigned to identify this project the memo shows there has been considerable discussion of how this land
could be used.

While I wholeheartedly support the development of this parcel to make it a more appealing eotrance to our
community I do have concerns regarding one of the items being considered. I'm referring to step number 3
listed under project status that suggests extendIng Glenpaul through to Lake Johanoa Blvd. and eliminating
the New Brighton Blvd. intersection with County Road D. The diagram on the back of the memo further
illustrates this intent.

I would like to go on record in opposition to any plan that would potentially increase traffic 00 Glenpaul
Avenue. (Many drivers coming down New Brighton Road today avoid the stop sign and traffic on Co. Rd.
D by using Glenpaul as an alternate thoroughfare to access Cleveland and 35W. It doesn't take a rocket
scientist to realize that the street re-routing changes being considered would only serve to increase the
number of drivers osing Glenpaul Ave. to reach Clevelaod aod points beyond.)

1'm not the only resident on Glenpaul concerned about the outcome of this development. There are many.
But, today, I can only speak for myself. As a homeowner on Glenpaul who would be directly impacted by
any traftie re-routing this proposal may create, I am urging the members of Arden Hills City Council to
please insist that any development plan on this corner not create a traffic hardship upon the residents of
Glenpaul Avenue.

At this tIme I'd also like to make a gesture of goodwill to Arden Hills by offering to votunteer my time and
services to help maintain a landscaped plot on this corner if that is an alternate plan the City would pursue.

Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter.

Sincerely.

11~;~_ 'd:>.-l-h~

Melinda B.
