FROM: Joe Lynch, City Administrator ?,/ DATE: November 6, 2001 We have received correspondence from City Attorney Filla on the recodification effort. Mr. Filla responded to the questions about the ability to copy the material and reproduce it. He also presents information on the ability to append the new code to include those sections related to the code but not currently being planned to be adopted as part of the code. He further comments on the fee resolution as part of the recodified regulations. As well, Mr. Filla, has enclosed a copy of . the ordinance adopting the new municipal code and a summary ordinance for publication purposes. I do not know ifthis was previously supplied by either the League of Minnesota Cities or American Legal. Please provide information to the City Council on the cost, if any, that the City will incur in order to obtain the necessary electronic version of the recodification for us to be able to make changes noted by City Council Member Rem, and comments and suggested changes made by City Attorney Filla. As well, I would like you to outline the process necessary for the City Council to adopt a new code including information about how and when it becomes effective, and the intention for any new parts of the code or any ordinance adopted in 2000 or 2001 that needs to be made a pa~this new code. Also indicate how this can best be accomplished. I would like to present this information to the City Council at their meeting on Novembe([.Q / ~ 2001.
