e' e e Emergency Operations Plan Page 3 November 16, 2001 After perusing all the enclosed information, staff would recommend the following: . City Council define and designate a date certain for the annual review of the Emergency Operations Plan. . City Council designate specified individuals responsible for review, update, and recommendations on any changes to the Emergency Operations Plan (City Administrator, Fire Chief, Chief Law Enforcement Officer, other). . Identify answers to the three areas mentioned above, . Determine priority for scheduled, cooperative, emergency management training exercises on a regularly scheduled basis (amlUally, bi-annually, etc.). . Designate a specific time frame and frequency for evaluation of the characteristics of effective emergency management organizational structures (in essence, go through the provided check list and questions provided by Public Entity Risk Institute). The City Council and the City of Arden Hills can take more immediate steps in providing preparedness for natural or man made disasters or terrorist acts. Following is a recommended prioritization of immediate steps: . Update and verify all the information, contacts, and telephone and fax numbers indicated in the Emergency Operations Plan. . Prepare and distribute a smaller list of necessary and immediate contacts in the event of a disaster for those persounel most involved, which may include, but not be limited to the following, (Mayor, City Administrator, Operations and Maintenance Director, Fire Chief, Police Chief, Minnesota State Emergency Management Director). . Purchase a mobile emergency generator for the operation of the Emergency Operations Center as designated in the Emergency Operations Plan. (New City Hall is currently wired to allow for hook up to a mobile generator but we delayed that purchase). . Identify the willingness to expend funds to evaluate the Emergency Operations Plan, institute recommended changes, and identified capital items.
