Ditches will not be mowed between June 1st and October 1 st
. Vegetation management under power lines will be done mechanically between
October I st and June I st without the use of chemicals,
. Below-ground utility construction sites will be returned to original grade, Erosion
will be prevented from reaching wetlands and lakes,
. Graded areas will be revegetated with native vegetation, Use of fertilizers and
pesticides will be avoided,
. All wetlands will be protected from road run-off, lawn and other chemical run-off
by a naturally-vegetated buffer strip,
. Shallow, vegetated wetlands (Types 2 and 3) will not be dredged and deepened.
. Landscaping will be left as natural as possible.
. Road placement will avoid separating wetlands from adjacent uplands and will
avoid bisecting wetlands,
. Roads will be kept to minimal standards on widths and lanes,
. If roads are not ditched, as recommended by the DNR, four-inch curbs possessing
a 3: 1 slope will be constructed,

DNR Natural Heritage and Nongame Reference correspondence number: ERDB 20010542

12.

Physical Impacts on Water Resources
Will the project involve the physical or hydrological alteration (dredging, filling, stream diversion,
outfall structure, diking, and impoundment) of any surface waters such as a lake, pond, wetland,
stream or drainage ditch? 0 Yes 0 No

If yes, identify water resource affected and give the DNR Protected Waters Inventory number(s) if
the water resources affected are on the PWI:

The existing site includes five wetlands, totaling approximately 4 acres, all of which have
been delineated, and two stormwater ponds, totaling approximately 0,7 acres in size" The
westernmost wetland is a PEMC Type 2 Wet Meadow, The central and larger
southeastern wetlands are PEMC Type 2/3 Wet Meadow and PEMCd Type 2/3 Wet
Meadow respectively, A narrow PEMC Type 3 Shallow Marsh is located along the
southeastern part of the freeway and a PEMC Type 3 Shallow Marsh is located southeast
of the Gateway Boulevard cul-de-sac, For more information, see the attached Wetland
Delineation Report, Appendix I.

According to the 2001 EA, the stormwater retention basin, loeated on the northwest
portion of the site between 13th Street and the railroad tracks, receives stormwater from
Round Lake Road, Gateway Boulevard and the associated road easement areas to the
north of the site, A limited amount of stormwater from paved parking areas also drains
into the site, The City of Arden Hills maintains the pond and possesses an easement for
the pond with the site owner.

Wetland mitigation and storm water ponding requirements will be provided adjacent to
the western wetland system, Surface water runoff from the proposed development will be

Page 13
