<br />City of Arden Hills Personnel Policy <br /> <br />Effective June 29, 2002 <br /> <br />PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT POLICY <br /> <br />Purpose: The purpose of this policy is to establish guidelines for professional development <br />activities by City staff. <br /> <br />Policy: City staff is encouraged to participate in professional development and training <br />activities and programs sponsored by their respective professional organizations and other <br />groups that sponsor programs relevant to local government. These programs not only <br />improve knowledge of local government and provide important networking opportunities, <br />but offer staff the opportunity to obtain innovative and new ideas for their functional area. <br /> <br />Generally speaking, exempt City staff shall have the opportunity to attend state conferences <br />and other applicable events of their respective professional organizations on an annual basis. <br />Staff may participate in other locally provided training and activities as time and resources <br />allow. <br /> <br />Exempt City staff shall have the opportunity to attend the national conference of their <br />respective professional organization every other year as approved by the City Administrator. <br /> <br />City staff shall adhere to applicable provisions of the personnel policy with regard to <br />reimbursable expenses. <br /> <br />36 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br />
