<br />ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES <br />APRIL 8, 2002 <br /> <br />.~ ,... <br /> <br />6 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Mr. Post reviewed the gcncral fund balances and presented the following options for Council <br />consideration: <br /> <br />1. Municipal Land & Building Fund No. 408. <br />2. TCAAP PlaIilling Fund No. 229. <br />3. Park Fund No. 227. <br />4. City Hall Facility - Backup Emergency Power Gencrator <br />5. City Hall Electronic Rccord Retention System <br /> <br />Mr. Post stated these options are not intended to be inclusivc and asked the Council to provide <br />dirccti on. <br /> <br />Councilrnember Larson asked for an approximate dollar amount for the Record Retention <br />Systcm. Mr. Post replicd the cxpcnditures would be for software, hardware, and manual input <br />for scanning the records. He stated he did not have a specific cost analysis, but it could be <br />$25,000 - $50,000.00 given thc number of records thcy needed to get on the electronic database. <br /> <br />Councilmembcr Larson asked if they wcrc still in thc rcsidcntial inspcction busincss. Mr. Post <br />replied thcy were. <br /> <br />. Mayor Probst stated he was interested in looking at thc first two alternatives. <br /> <br />Mr. Post statcd Fund No. 229 had approximately a $220,000.00 fund balance at present, and <br />Fund NoA08 was essentially empty, but would be replenished by 2001 taxes payable in 2002 in <br />an amount of$183,750.00. <br /> <br />Councilmember Rem stated givcn the sizc ofbalancc, shc requestcd somc money be sct aside for <br />the Record Rctention System. Shc stated an emergency portable generator was also an issue they <br />needed to look at. Mr. Post replied a portable gcnerator would cost approximately $32,300.00. <br /> <br />Councilmcmbcr Rem asked if the generator should be on a list of priorities. Mr. Post replied <br />from an emergency standpoint there were options availablc to rent the generators from other <br />suppliers. However, thc gencrators could be in short supply if thcre was a largc arca-widc powcr <br />outage. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Councilmember Grant askcd how many gcncrators thcy currcntly had. Mr. Moore replied they <br />currently had two. He stated of the two they had, the large generator could plug into City Hall, <br />but the small onc could not. He stated currently the emergency plan was that the generators <br />would run the sewer lift stations and water boostcr station. He indicated they would be able to <br />bring one of the gcncrators over to City Hall in the event of all emergency for a short period of <br />time (anything under 3 days), but if the powcr outage lasted longer than three days, they would <br />need another generator. <br />
