<br />ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES <br />APRIL 8, 2002 <br /> <br /> <br />'f~ <br />i <br /> <br />7 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Mayor Probst stated they should still look at the gencrator issue, and hc would support them <br />getting software for the Record Rctcntion Systcm, but they should wait on the rest of the requcsts <br />at this time. <br /> <br />MOTION: <br /> <br />Councilmember Aplikowski moved and Councilmember Larson secondcd a <br />motion to authorize staff to purchase a mobile generator for City Hall use in an <br />amount not to exceed $35,000.00. <br /> <br />Councilmembcr Grant asked ifthc rcmainder of the balancc would go into Fund No. 408. <br /> <br />Councilmember Larson askcd if they purchased a new gencrator, whcrc would thcy put it. Mr. <br />Post replied the generator would bc a portable gcncrator, and not a permanent one as was <br />previously discuss cd. He asked if Councilmcmber Aplikowski's motion also included a trailcr <br />for thc generator. <br /> <br />Mayor Probst asked if they had a place to storc thc gcncrator. Mr. Moore replied it would be <br />storcd in the existing maintenance building. <br /> <br />Mr. Post rcplied thc estimatc thcy rcccived also included the trailer. He stated the pricc last was <br />$32,302.00. Hc stated $35,000.00 would be in thc ballpark to purchasc thc gcnerator and trailer. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Councilmember Larson askcd if it was morc efficient to purchase the equipment, or should they <br />share resources with another City considering the generator would be sitting most of the time <br />unused. Mr. Post replied they could rcnt a generator. Hc stated thcre was a maintenance <br />component to a generator in that they had to use it on a rcgular basis. <br /> <br />Councilmcmbcr Larson asked if they had checked with other citics to havc acccss to a gcncrator. <br />Mayor Probst statcd this was an idea worth pursuing. <br /> <br />Mayor Probst stated he agrecd with thc spirit of Aplikowski's motion, but suggested they put all <br />of the money into Fund No. 408 with the understanding that oncc thcy had considcrcd all of thc <br />options for the gencrator, the money for the generator would still be available. <br /> <br />Councilmembcr Aplikowski withdrew hcr motion for furthcr information. Councilmember <br />Larson withdrew his sccond. <br /> <br />Mayor Probst directed staff to research thc possibility of sharing a generator with another City. <br /> <br />Mr. Lynch stated thc City docs belong to a consortium of cities that provides mutual aid in <br />cmergency situations. However, nobody had a 200w gcncrator, and if thcy did, it was not a <br />mobilc generator. He also statcd even if they could locate a gencrator, it might not be available <br />at the time it was needed. <br /> <br />. Councilmembcr Larson expressed concern about not going forward with thc Record Retcntion <br />System. He stated if thcy did not go forward, it would keep getting pushed on the back burner. <br />
