<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />~ <br />~~HILLS <br /> <br />DRAFT <br /> <br />MEETING MINUTES <br /> <br />CITY OF ARDEN HILLS, MINNESOTA <br />CITY COUNCIL WORKSESSION <br />MONDAY, MARCH 18,2002,4:45 P.M. <br />CITY HALL COUNCIL CHAMBERS, 1245 WEST HIGHWAY 96 <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Probst callcd thc mecting to order at 5:34 p.m. Councilmembers prcscnt were <br />Beverly Aplikowski, Grcgg Larson, and Lois Rem. <br /> <br />Staff present included City Administrator, Joe Lynch; Recrcation Supervisor, Michcllc <br />Olson; City Planner, Aaron Parrish; City Treasurer, Terry Post; and Recording Secrctary, <br />Jackie Gritz. <br /> <br />The following PTRC mcmbers were prescnt: Robcrta Thompson, Jirn Crassweller, <br />Cindy Garretson, and Rich Straumann. <br /> <br />Thc ncw Dcputy Clerk, Cynthia Young, was introduced by Joe Lynch. <br /> <br />STAFF DISCUSSION ITEMS <br /> <br />Administration <br /> <br />Day In the Park Funding ~ Aplikowski summarized the latcst mecting of the City <br />Events Task Force last wcek regarding the Day In the Park. She indicatcd thcir group is <br />asking the city to dedicatc roughly $30,000 for the day. This year's Day In thc Park will <br />start with a parade at 1 :00 p.m. and end with fireworks at 10:00 p.m. She indicated if <br />Council did not want to designatc money toward this year's event, we can go to the <br />community and ask for money. Post noted last ycar we raiscd $33,000 from community <br />sponsors. Mayor Probst indicated his confidencc the money needed for this day can be <br />raised by donations and thc Council would be willing to fill in where money is short. <br />Lynch reminded all that wc currcntly have an operating surplus of$200,000 that still has <br />not be been designated for cxpcnditure. Olson noted thc importance of the City Events <br />Task Force to move quickly with plans for this year's Day In the Park. <br /> <br />Aplikowski also notcd Council would need to dedicatc money toward paying for staff <br />tirne. She indicated wc probably don't nccd as many staff as last ycar but if they walltcd <br />staff to work, they should be paid. <br />
