CITY HALL COUNCIL CHAMBERS, 1245 WEST HIGHWAY 96 CALL TO ORDER Mayor Probst callcd thc mecting to order at 5:34 p.m. Councilmembers prcscnt were Beverly Aplikowski, Grcgg Larson, and Lois Rem. Staff present included City Administrator, Joe Lynch; Recrcation Supervisor, Michcllc Olson; City Planner, Aaron Parrish; City Treasurer, Terry Post; and Recording Secrctary, Jackie Gritz. The following PTRC mcmbers were prescnt: Robcrta Thompson, Jirn Crassweller, Cindy Garretson, and Rich Straumann. Thc ncw Dcputy Clerk, Cynthia Young, was introduced by Joe Lynch. STAFF DISCUSSION ITEMS Administration Day In the Park Funding ~ Aplikowski summarized the latcst mecting of the City Events Task Force last wcek regarding the Day In the Park. She indicatcd thcir group is asking the city to dedicatc roughly $30,000 for the day. This year's Day In thc Park will start with a parade at 1 :00 p.m. and end with fireworks at 10:00 p.m. She indicated if Council did not want to designatc money toward this year's event, we can go to the community and ask for money. Post noted last ycar we raiscd $33,000 from community sponsors. Mayor Probst indicated his confidencc the money needed for this day can be raised by donations and thc Council would be willing to fill in where money is short. Lynch reminded all that wc currcntly have an operating surplus of$200,000 that still has not be been designated for cxpcnditure. Olson noted thc importance of the City Events Task Force to move quickly with plans for this year's Day In the Park. Aplikowski also notcd Council would need to dedicatc money toward paying for staff tirne. She indicated wc probably don't nccd as many staff as last ycar but if they walltcd staff to work, they should be paid.
